The Importance of the Family Dinner

In today's busy world, it is more important than ever to re-establish the family dinner.

The suggestion

As many nights as possible everyone should sit at the dinner table sans all technology and interact with each other to reinforce the family bond.

The current problem

We are all guilty of rushing through life and not taking the time to really listen and react with each other. We e-mail, tweet,  facebook, and text. This often leaves us with internet-only relationships and many of us lack simple human contact skills.

In conclusion

Some of my favorite moments while growing up happened at the dinner table. It is the best time to reconnect and share with each other our activities and our opinions of the day. In this day and age we are getting farther and farther from human contact as we "talk" to one another. Just a simple conversation or going around the table and sharing your day can evoke interest in each other's lives. This interest can help to create lifelong closeness in a family, even after the children are grown and on their own.
